Pricing Law to Charge IP Guaranteed Services
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a usage-based tariff model to charge IP guaranteed network services. We consider a future business scenario where the Internet can support application services that need performance guarantees. In this scenario we define the concept of network commodity, that is the transfer of information units between two points of the network. This commodity is associated with a measure and a price, which depend on the value of the so called virtual delay, which summarizes the QoS parameters of the transfer service. Starting from these concepts, we propose a tariff model that depends on both the reserved resources and the actual use of the service. The model is such that it is possible to adjust the weights of the two components arbitrarily. The background of this work is the IST project WHYLESS.COM, sponsored by the European Union.

Pricing for the use of telecommunication services is an issue widely treated in the literature. In the last years it has received a growing attention in order to establish various fairness criteria in the bandwidth allocation for each type of traffic class. متن کاملProvider-Oriented Linear Price Calculation for Integrated Services
When reservation-based service differentiation is offered in an IP network, it is crucial for a network provider to appropriately charge for service invocations. For internal calculation as well as external price representation, a notion of costs and prices for communication services is needed. In this paper, general requirements for cost and price calculation are analysed for packetswitched mu...

Internet is becoming an integrated services network, and enhancing the classic IP Best Effort Service is a pressing need. At the same time, flat-rate pricing model, commonly applied today by Internet Service Providers to charge subscribers for the connectivity, will become inadequate soon. This paper presents usage-based tariff models to charge added value services, and the relevant accounting ...
